The Ulster Unionist Party is to target the University of Ulster and Scottish universities in a recruitment drive following a decision by the UU student union to lift a 15-year ban on the formation of political associations on campus.
The Ulster Young Unionist Council plans to form political societies in Jordanstown and Coleraine, the two main UU campuses. It said there has also been interest at Dundee, Edinburgh, Strathclyde and St Andrews universities.
