UK launches new FP6 information service

November 5, 2003

Brussels, 04 Nov 2003

The UK government has launched a new initiative designed to help organisations in the country benefit from the European Commission's Sixth Framework Programme (FP6) for research.

FP6UK will raise awareness among organisations of the opportunities available through FP6, and will, for the first time, enable stakeholders to access the country's national contact points (NCPs) through a single, centralised information service.

'Research and development are essential to the health and wealth of the UK. The EU funding is a vital resource for universities and businesses. Our new service will provide seamless support for applicants from their initial enquiry through to, hopefully successful, final awards,' according to UK minister for science and innovation, Lord Sainsbury.
