How do you stop your local hospital closing? Add the word "university" to its name, say academics in a chat room for specialists in accident and emergency medicine. One posting reads: "Just about every district general hospital in London has done it. If your hospital is called "Skegness University Hospital" or the like, it's a sure sign it's really a district general hospital. But with "university" in the name, it'll never close."
