One Scottish pupil to receive her exam results on time from the Scottish Qualifications Authority was Lesley Clarkson, who passed her sixth-year studies. That was the good news. Later that day, Ms Clarkson, one of Scotland's most promising medal hopes in the Commonwealth Youth Games at Heriot-Watt University, was forced out of the competition because of injury. Before even reaching the track to start her warm-up training session, she tripped over the trackside kerb and strained her leg ligaments. She is going to Glasgow University in October to study sports medicine.
