Training mistake

April 11, 1997

From Neil McIntosh

WHY do people in higher education think they have a god given right to be the only providers of initial teacher training? The Standing Committee for the Education and Training of Teachers' attack on the Teacher Training Agency restates this conceit (THES, April 4). Yet there are high status professions such as the Bar or accountancy which organise their own training.
