Tourists are being targeted as potential students by the University of Wales, Bangor. It is distributing leaflets showing Snowdonia and the Menai Strait to tourist information centres, shops, hotels, garages and caravan sites in the area.
Carys Roberts, head of student recruitment at the university, told the Daily Post : "We know that many of our students had previously been in North Wales on holiday, so we think it is worth while raising the university's profile in general among visitors to the area. The aim is to make more potential students aware of the possibility of extending their stay in North Wales by choosing to study here."
Meanwhile, the University of Wales College, Newport, is using three garden gnomes to spearhead its clearing campaign and stand out from the competition.
