Baroness Warwick continues to show little strain under the task of wearing two hats - those of the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals chief executive and of working Labour peer. Responding to the top-up fees crusade launched by Sir Colin Campbell last week, she heaped praise on the education secretary, David Blunkett, for "getting this debate under way", even though Mr Blunkett has always made clear his personal opposition to the top-up fee.
