HSBC has promised £30 million to three environmental charities in what is said to be the biggest single charitable donation by any UK company. Do companies think long and hard before dishing out £30 million to good causes? You bet. Corporate social and environmental responsibility is now considered sufficiently complex to deserve its own academic journal. New Academy Review was launched last week by Anita Roddick, founder of the Body Shop, and is edited by Tom Cannon, former director of Manchester Business School.
