Hard times at All Souls: it was bad enough for the Oxford University college having to turn down a bequest rather than move its Christopher Wren sundial, but worse was to come. Someone has been at the wine cellar.

Staff are said to have grown increasingly concerned that bottles were vanishing from the college's famously well-stocked cellar.

Inspection of CCTV footage revealed shots of a man loading wine worth thousands of pounds into the back of a vehicle.

A suspect, whose identity has not been released, was expected to be questioned by police as The Times Higher went to press.
