Celebrations at York University over getting the go-ahead to double the size of its campus after a year-long public inquiry narrowly escaped being short lived, it has emerged. The decision letter from the former Department of Local Government and Communities approving the £500 million project contained a "technical error" that opened a new six-week window for legal challenges. This period has now passed without a mutter from the residents who prompted the original inquiry. A spokesman said: "They had the opportunity to mount a fresh legal challenge. You can drawn your own conclusions from the fact that they did not do so."
