LIFE applications for funding in 2004 - What's new?

Enlargement. LIFE is also open to the 10 new Member States joining the Union in 2004

Ten of the candidate countries will become members of the European Union in 2004 (1) and will be eligible to apply for LIFE funding in this round (2). Cyprus and Malta will no longer be included in those countries covered by the LIFE-Third Countries programme.

New Financial regulation. In some cases new financial documents are required

There are stricter conditions regarding the legal status, the financial solvability of would be beneficiaries and the financial viability of proposals. These are explained in the application guides.

Revision of the Standard Administration Provisions

The Standard Administration Provisions (SAP) have been updated to take account of the new Financial Regulation. Please read the SAP carefully before writing your application.

1 This is conditional to the ratification of the Treaty of Accession by candidate countries. The new member states are Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia.
2 Note that this does not apply to LIFE-nature Co-op 2003 applications, which are open to the current 15 member states plus Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.
