Thames Valley University plans to merge with Reading College from autumn 2003. Formal plans will be submitted to the Berkshire Learning and Skills Council and the Higher Education Funding Council for England, before going on to education secretary Estelle Morris, in autumn.
Thames Valley University is expanding again after being forced to contract following a damning report from the Quality Assurance Agency in November 1998.
