Textile, leather and pulp and paper industries to discuss joint research priorities

July 7, 2003

Brussels, 04 Jul 2003

The EU funded PANATEX project will hold a workshop in Copenhagen on 18 and 19 September 2003, bringing together researchers from the leather, textile and pulp and paper industries.

These three industries have well developed research communities working to solve their environmental problems. However, communication between the different research communities is very limited, even though research areas are often the same: water re-use and waste water treatment.

Discussions at the workshop will be documented and passed on to the European Commission in the form of advice on the content of the work programmes for the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6)

The workshop will include a presentation by the Commission on funding opportunities in FP6, presentations of the relevant industrial sectors and presentations of 13 current EU projects related to the three sectors and their water problems.
