Brussels, 04 March 2002
Universities from throughout Europe will discuss the European research area and the potential for a 'European higher education area for sustainability' at a conference on 'The incorporation of sustainability into higher education in the perspective of the European research area' in Gothenburg, Sweden, from 12 to 14 June 2002.
Delegates at the fifth international COPERNICUS conference will discuss the implications for higher education of the EU sustainable development strategy a year after its adoption at the Gothenburg Summit of June 2001. It will reflect on ways to incorporate further sustainability into higher education, and aims to inspire further action by providing a forum for sharing achievements, finding partners and introducing proposals.
Teachers, researchers and university administrators and students are invited to attend the conference, along with participants from outside the education sector, such as the business community, governmental and non-governmental organisations.
