The Commission's Enterprise and Industry DG has published a call for tenders for a study on the transfer of expertise through mentoring in small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs).
In the first stage, the contractor will deliver:
- a survey of different training and mentoring support measures/schemes in favour of non-family
business successors who are in the process of taking over established small and medium-sized
enterprises in the EU-25 Member States;
- the assessment of the quality and impact of existing training and mentoring services in terms
of client satisfaction through standardised questionnaires;
- a ranking of selected good practices of existing training and mentoring services, i.e. best
practices for the preparation of non-family business successors to acquire established small and
medium-sized enterprises through professional training and mentoring.
In the second stage, the contractor will deliver:
- a comprehensive management training guide that covers all those areas a non-family business
successor has to know, i.e. all the necessary knowledge and information he/she needs in the process
of successfully taking over an established small or medium-sized enterprise;
- the translation of the management training guide into English, French and German;
- the organisation of a final conference on non-family business succession and on existing
training and mentoring support measures/schemes for non-family business successors with
participation of national experts, SME associations, craft chambers, banks, etc.
The study should cover the EU-25 Member States.
