Students: yes, we're satisfied

Universities are outperforming other public service sectors when it comes to satisfied customers, according to a national survey of student opinion.

Eighty-two per cent of UK students are satisfied with the teaching on their course and 81 per cent are satisfied with their courses overall, according to the results of the National Student Survey.

This compares to the 54 per cent who are satisfied with the service provided by their local authority, the 63 per cent satisfied with the National Health Service and the 79.8 per cent happy with the service provided by their police force.

Lord Triesman, Minister for Intellectual Property and Quality, said the results were "an excellent endorsement of higher education in this country".
