William Straw, son of foreign secretary Jack Straw, is hoping to follow in his father's footsteps as a student activist. He is standing as an independent candidate for election next week as president of the Oxford University students' union. His father's stance was more extreme: Jack Straw stood as the radical student alliance candidate and was elected president of the National Union of Students.
