Stanislas Gosse, an academic at a Strasbourg engineering school who admitted using a secret passage to steal 1,100 books, including a 15th-century incunabulum from the Mont-Sainte-Odile monastery at Ottrott, has received an 18-month suspended sentence with fines and costs totalling fi11,000 (£7,700).
