State:private student ratio shifts at Oxford

State school students could this year outnumber those from private schools at Oxford University for the first time.

Final figures for confirmed places have not yet been collated from the colleges. However, on the basis of offers made by admissions tutors, state school students will outnumber their private school counterparts by just 17 if all made the grade at A level last month.
