Southampton ends affiliation with NUS

Southampton University students union has ended its affiliation to the National Union of Students, joining counterparts at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Imperial College, London.

The move was prompted by what Southampton delegates to last month's annual NUS conference described as "disgusting behaviour". Students said the £69,000 they paid in annual fees to the NUS could be better spent.
