Scientific sisters were sharing experiences at the Women in Science conference this week, though some might have found themselves with rather different views on the family. Asked about the difficulties of combining motherhood and college life, keynote speaker Susanna Blackshaw was sympathetic rather than empathetic, saying: "I have the luxury of not having children."
