Sir Anthony Greener, deputy chairman of British Telecom and chairman of the University for Industry, has been appointed chairman of the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority on an interim basis until April 30 2003.
He replaces Sir William Stubbs, who was sacked last month for his part in the A-level grading debacle.
Sir Anthony also chairs the Confederation of British Industry's employment policy committee. Sir Anthony's new post is part time and unpaid.
