March 24, 2004

Brussels, 23 Mar 2004

The first Call for Proposals under the new 'Preparatory Action on the enhancement of the European industrial potential in the field of Security Research' (PASR 2004) will be published in April 2004.

The Call, identified as PASR-2004, is to be published in April 2004. All fields of activities will be open for proposals and the tentative closure date is 23 June 2004. The actual date is still subject to change, so proposers should be sure to check the Call text carefully once the definitive version is published. The indicative budget for the Call is €13 million.

The work programme for projects and support activities under PASR 2004 is specified in Communication on Security Research, adopted on 3 February 2004. The procedure and selection criteria are specified in the Annex to Decision C(2004)249.

A total budget of €65 million has been earmarked for the entire period of the Preparatory Action (2004-2006), which will lead to a full European Security Research Programme starting in 2007.
