In the wake of angry nationwide protests, Dominique de Villepin, Prime Minister of France, has said he is prepared to improve the Contrat Première Embauche , the young people's employment contract that allows businesses to fire recruits under 26 without explanation during the first two years of their employment. France's university presidents have said that they understood students' concerns but could not condone the wave of occupations
