Scottish merger is on

Paisley University and Bell College have been given the green light to merge later this year. The result will be a four-campus institution with almost 17,000 students.

The merger, which is expected to take place in August, will be backed by more than £21 million over three years and provide a local university for 30 per cent of Scotland's population.
