Scots put key stats on CD

January 5, 2001

The Scottish Further Education Funding Council has produced a CD-Rom containing the largest analysis of Scottish further education, writes Olga Wojtas.

More than 1 million student enrolments over three years were analysed to create the Review of the Supply and Demand for Further Education in Scotland . The analysis offers a unique insight into how colleges are meeting demand.

The SFEFC wants the review to become a virtual encyclopedia of FE information that can be used for forward planning.

Esther Roberton, vice-chair of the council, said: "This is the largest and most comprehensive review of its kind ever undertaken. It will assist the SFEFC in identifying gaps or duplication and will inform policy decisions at all levels."

The CD-Rom is available only to the colleges and organisations that took part in the project, but the review is scheduled to appear on the internet at www.sfeu.ac.uk .
