Over 150 scientists from 24 countries have signed a letter to Tony Blair in support of colleagues who complained that the GM debate had been mishandled.
Signatories, including James Watson, co-discoverer of the structure of DNA and Ingo Potrykus, developer of GM vitamin-enhanced "golden rice", call on the prime minister to base his policies on good science and to promote the potential benefits of biotechnology.
