School-leavers set record

Scotland's largest single group of school-leavers - 30 per cent - entered higher education in 1997-98. The latest Scottish Office statistics on post-school destinations show 26 per cent of the 62,500 leavers found jobs, while 19 per cent went into further education and 9 per cent into training.
