Academics at Derby University have discovered that Arnold Machin OBE, who designed the Queen's head image that appears on all British stamps, is an alumni of the Derby College of Art, which eventually became part of the university when it was formed in 1983. Evidence was found during a search of the archives of colleges that were merged to make up the arts, design and technology faculty, which is to have a new £20 million building officially opened in the autumn.
