Brussels, 03 July 2002
Discussions on developing country access to online scientific publishing will take place at a round table in Trieste, Italy on 4 and 5 October.
The open round table will include scientists, decision-makers, journalists, electronic publishers, content providers, information and communication technology experts, donors and non profit organisations, all of which are working on the dissemination of science and the transfer of knowledge and technology towards developing countries.
The goal is to bring together all interested parties to analyse and discuss innovative technological tools, the digital divide, licensing issues and concrete strategic alternatives to support scientists working in remote areas or with expensive Internet access.
