Robot that won't bottle out of a boozy task

Life has just got even easier for the gadget-loving couch potato.

Engineers at Florida University have developed a robot that can open bottles of beer and set them on a coffee table within easy reach of the drinker. Abor - autonomous beer-opening robot - is also adept with screw caps.

But the masters student behind the innovative design will not require the robot's services to help him celebrate his success - French-born Jean-Philippe Clerc prefers wine to beer.
