Rise for student parents

Students with children will be eligible for a higher grant from September, the Government announced this week. The childcare grant will rise from Pounds 114.75 a week to £148.75 a week for students with one child, and from £170 a week to £225 a week for students with two or more children. Universities UK welcomed the move. "This increase in financial support for student parents brings the sector another step closer to achieving total social inclusion and increased participation," it said.
