David Starkey has become the highest-paid television presenter after signing with Channel 4.
Dr Starkey's deal represents £75,000 for every hour he appears on television. He will present an 18-hour series on the history of the monarchy from King Arthur to the present.
Dr Starkey is a visiting fellow of Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, and spent 25 years at the London School of Economics.
