Research centre plan rejected by council

Cambridge University's plans for a Pounds 24 million neuroscience research centre were rejected this week by South Cambridgeshire District Council because the proposed site is on green belt land.

The police said they could not afford to protect the laboratory and its staff from animal rights protesters. Girton College, Cambridge, which is opposite, objected on security grounds.
