Remembered hills

December 22, 1995

As snowstorms sweep the country, Aberdeen University is turning its thoughts to June 25, when Scotland was recorded the hottest country in Europe. That day, more than 200 teams, involving 1,500 graduates, staff and students, marked the university's quincentenary by climbing all 7 Scottish Munros hills over 3,000 feet. They have raised a total of Pounds 25,000, which was this week divided equally between the university sports development fund and the Mountain Rescue Committee of Scotland.

For those seeking a reminder of the summer weather, the university has produced a Pounds 3 commemorative brochure of photographs and reports which it says capture the "atmosphere of the day".
