A dietary supplement that can slow the loss of sight among older people has been developed by a team at Queen's University Belfast. The antioxidant helps sufferers of age-related macular degeneration, the most common cause of sight loss in the Western world. A five-year study found that nutritional supplements including vitamins C and E and zinc may help to check the disease.
