Actor and globetrotter Michael Palin is providing the funding for a bursary scheme for drama students in Northern Ireland in memory of his friend Michael Barnes, who served as director of the Belfast Festival from 1973 to 1994. The scheme will support five MA drama students at Queen's University Belfast over a period of five years, and will also provide a travel scholarship for students to undertake a research visit or theatre placement related to their studies. All postgraduate drama students at the university are eligible to apply.
