Queen Mary, University of London - Science is child's play

September 10, 2009

A children's science education centre - based within a working medical school research laboratory - has been opened on behalf of Queen Mary, University of London. The Centre of the Cell is based at the Whitechapel campus of Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, and takes the form of a giant orange pod. It is free to visit and will play host to up to 40,000 visitors each year, giving children and teenagers an insight into what the work of a scientist entails and how it influences real life. Major funders of the centre include the Wellcome Trust, the London Development Agency, the Mercers' Company and Queen Mary.
