While last weekend's scorching weather probably inflicted a good deal of painful sunburn, it could hardly be blamed for the acute reddening of faces among those working for The PUSH Guide to Which University.

Heat stroke may, however, have played a part in the blunder which led to the PUSH office mistakenly re-issuing its 1994-95 student debt survey instead of the all new 1995-96 version. Unfortunately - for PUSH and some institutions - a national newspaper unwittingly published the out of date figures.

It may be then that the PUSH office could be facing a cold front from institutions such as the University of Brighton where student debt declined dramatically between 1994-95 and 1995-96 from a table-topping Pounds 3,000 a year to a below average Pounds 1,000.
