Brussels, 05 Dec 2002

Jill EVANS (Greens/EFA, Wales)

Report on Directive 86/609 on the protection of animals used for experimental and other scientific purposes (2001/2259(INI))

Doc.: A5-0387/2002 [may not be available yet]

Procedure: Own-initiative report

Debate: 04.12.2002

Vote: 05.12.2002

In adopting this resolution, Parliament underlined that revision of Directive 86/069 is a matter of urgency and that the extension of its legal basis is essential. Although this resolution is a non-legislative and own-initiative report, it should be considered as a precursor to this. Therefore, Commission and Member States should take on board its comments and recommendations in the interest of a stricter European animal protection policy.
