Since the Secretariat has received two nominations for the Vice Presidency of the CSO (docs. COST 250/04 and COST 266/04), an election will be necessary at the 159th CSO meeting on 29- 28 May 2004 in Bergen, Norway.
In this respect, it is recalled that doc. COST 245/04 Working Methods of the CSO stipulates in Article 3 that a majority of all COST Member States is required.
The non-associated Member having no voting rights on this issue, the simple majority is 18.
At present 24 delegations have registered their attendance at the Bergen meeting.
Based on previous experience see doc. COST 263/1/01 REV 1, in particular the last indent, of which a copy is attached to this note the Secretariat suggests that delegations who are unable to attend the 159th meeting should be allowed to cast their votes in writing to the Secretariat by mid- day on Monday, 24 May at the latest.
