The principal of Ruskin College Oxford has resigned after failing to consolidate the college on one site and solve its £1.3 million projected deficit over the next three years. Jim Durcan had hoped to sell Ruskin's three sites and buy a site owned by Berkeley Homes in north Oxford. But the college and Berkeley Homes were unable to agree a price, and the move was strongly opposed by a group of staff and students.
