Reassurance for denizens of the Association of University Teachers office in Notting Hill - that mysterious yet strangely familiar female figure knocking around the place is not a spy placed by Natfhe or the vice chancellors, but AUT's long-established press officer Monica Hicks.

After 28 years with a distinctly luxuriant coiffure she opted for a more cropped look last weekend, but mischievously chose not to warn anyone at the office about the impending redesign.
