Pounds 5 million top-up to pull in drop-outs

Ministers have pledged Pounds 5 million to expand the government's New Start scheme to bring young drop-outs back into education. Speaking at a Further Education Development Agency conference in Birmingham this week, FE minister Baroness Blackstone said that 20,000 14 to 17-year-olds would be helped each year by the scheme.
