Post-30 students on the slide

The number of first-degree, part-time home students aged 30 and over in the UK fell by six percentage points last year compared to 1996-97 - little better than in 1995-96, according to latest figures from the Higher Education Statistics Agency. The total number of over-30 students was below the 1995-96 level.
