Plan for town planning

Universities should have more freedom to develop town-planning courses and restrictions on entry requirements should be removed, according to a review by the Royal Town Planning Institute.

The recommendations by Peter Fidler, vice-chancellor of Sunderland University, and his team are designed to attract and retain more people in the field. The review suggests academic careers could be better integrated with the planning profession and that research and teaching will count towards professional educational requirements.
