Pay-per-view learning

Education will be a prime force in the streaming media market this decade, a new report says. Distance learning, training and conferencing will take a greater share of a developing "pay-per-view" market with a projected value of Pounds 6 billion in 2008.

The report, Opportunities in Streaming Media, by Vision Consultancy Group identifies early adopters, including education information aggregators and service providers, in the medium that uses internet technology to deliver rich media.

Universities in the United Kingdom and the United States are also leading research into education content and streaming delivery, but distance-learning demand will not be fulfilled without large-scale deployment of broadband access, the report says.
