And a time check for the AUT from Tory peer and former Scottish education minister Lord MacKay of Ardbrecknish during the House of Lords revolt on the Scottish anomaly. According to Lord MacKay, "There was one time when a word from the Association of University Teachers meant that the Labour Party simply did what it was told." Flattered as the AUT is, it is scratching its head over when exactly this time was.
