A new E50 million (Pounds 333 million) National Institute of Art History will open in 2003 in the historic buildings of the former National Library in central Paris. Including a library with a million books and a picture databank, it will be used by researchers and postgraduate students as well as providing a base for specialist research teams scattered throughout the Ile-de-France region.
