Oxford debuts chair in applied ethics

Julian Savulescu will be the first Uehiro professor of applied ethics at Oxford University from July. He will become a fellow of St Cross College.

Professor Savulescu, best known for his work in ethics and genetic techniques, is director of the ethics unit at the Murdoch Children's Research Institute, Melbourne, Australia. The chair is funded by the Uehiro Foundation on Ethics and Education, a Japanese charitable fund.
